Summer Ward, MA, LPC, CTS

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Missouri. I received my BS in Human Development and Family Studies at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro and my MA in Christian Counseling at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in Charlotte, NC. I am a certified clinician in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I have received other formal training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Sensory-Based Strategies for Childhood Disorders, and Conscious Discipline Social-Emotional Learning Curriculum.
With a Christian worldview as a foundation, I treat individuals (children, adolescents and adults) and families using an integrated approach that combines elements from the study of psychology with biblical truth and faith in Christ. I view counseling as the coming alongside someone who is experiencing personal pain with the depth of both psychological and theological perspectives in order to facilitate healing and transformation.
I have been providing clinical services since 2008 and have experience in a community mental health setting treating children, adolescents, adults, and families. I have done extensive work with trauma survivors who have experienced abuse, neglect, domestic violence, fires, and other significant events or disasters. I also specialize in the treatment of anxiety and depression.
I have always had a passion for the inner life of human beings and their pursuit of wholeness spiritually, emotionally, and mentally. My professional calling to the field of counseling began with my own personal journey of healing through Christian counseling when I was in college. I personally understand what it is to suffer and have great compassion for those experiencing pain. It is my privelege to walk with others as they struggle through difficulty, seek wholeness and healing, and eventually find hope.
